The mission of the New Bedford Yacht Club is: To have a membership composed of yachting enthusiasts of good character and of all ages who are predominantly local residents (as defined by NBYC by-laws). The numerical size of the membership should be suitable to the available facilities and appropriate to foster a membership that is involved in Club activities and friendly to one another. To provide a meeting place where members can share their common interests and camaraderie in boating services (sail, power and fishing), in good fellowship and with caring relationships between members, staff and guests. To provide members and their guests with safe and appropriate access to waterfront and boating services compatible with the available resources of the Club and its facilities. To encourage yachting in this community by providing an organized sailboat racing program, an educational program in boating and other suitable boating activities. To operate as a non-profit organization (per government regulations) at a cost level that enables fulfillment of this mission while preserving a sound fiscal position and being responsive to the economic profile of the general membership.
