Wednesday, August 9, 2006 has been set aside for the New Bedford Yacht Club's "Ladies at the Helm" racing. This race is run like a regular Wednesday night race except that a female must be at the helm and in command of the yacht from the Preparatory Signal to the Finish LIne. Male crews may be used for such tasks as: navigation, triming the sheets, changing sails, making tea, and manning stopwatches. This event is open to all members of the New Bedford Yacht Club and Low Tide Yacht Club.
