The Race Committee plans, organizes, schedules and encourages a program of competitive yacht racing and related special events and makes recommendations thereon to the Commodore for consideration by the Executive Committee and submission to the Board for approval. It makes recommendations concerning racing policies and procedures in the same manner.

The Competition Committee works with classes that wish to use the New Bedford Yacht Club as their racing venue and brings the proposals for these races held under the auspices of the club to the Board of Directors. Their focus is on events which best exemplify the mission of the club.

The New Bedford Junior Regatta Committee is responsible for planning the NBJR, one of the most popular junior regattas in Southern New England.
