Greetings!! And welcome to the New Bedford Yacht and the 2008 Laser Masters US National Championships.
Our Mission:
To provide you with the following;
A convenient and user friendly venue. The opportunity to share camaraderie, food, drink, and stories ashore. Friendly and prepared NBYC staff and regatta volunteers. And most importantly – good race management and (Buzzards Bay willing) excellent sailing conditions.
My personal goal is that you will leave this event knowing that your fleet was wanted and made welcome here, and that your overall regatta experience was excellent.
To this end if you experience or anticipate any of these goals falling short, then PLEASE contact me directly and immediately. My cell phone and email info is below.
Your Arrival When you arrive at NBYC on Thursday there will be greeters in the parking lot to answer your questions and direct you to launching, parking, and registration areas. Sailing instructions will be available at registration. If you need to deliver your laser before Thursday, then please call the NBYC office (508-997-0762) to make arrangements. Please be advised that there will be no on sight security evenings after 2 AM prior to Thursday.
Colors NBYC observes Colors at 8 AM and at sunset. At these times a bell is rung, a staff member will announce “Colors”, a loud 10 gauge cannon will be fired, and the National Ensign will be raised or lowered, after which the staff member will announce “As you were.” We ask you to join us in observing Colors by stopping when you hear the bell and remaining still until you hear “As you were.” When the bell is rung at other times it will mean that an announcement is being made from the top stairs at the front of the club house.
Talk to US We are here to serve you. Please do not attempt to communicate with the signal boat when we are in sequence unless it’s an emergency. At any other time approach any volunteer or staff member for questions or help with any issue. To help you find us the following dress code will be in effect. Race Committee, regatta volunteers, and NBYC Club management will wear white tops and khaki bottoms. Club staff will wear red tops and khaki bottoms.
Safe travels, good luck, sail well, and have fun.
Be well,
